Kissing Tree

One of the unique things about living at Kissing Tree is their deep but playful sense of community. Residents in this 55+ community can take a Tribe quiz to find out if they’re more of a Voyager, Foodie, Champ, or Creator. The Tribes gather regularly for like-minded activities and events.

Curation Story

Kissing Tree asked me to help envision and create a flexible garage space near the model homes that would serve as a fun and casual gathering space. It was the perfect opportunity to bring the tribe theme to life with red folding camp chairs and wooden card tables.

We had some super cool guitars and framed photos of Texas musicians to add to the room, and chose the word PLAY to anchor a wall installation. The letters were made by hand from old magazines by a female artist I found on Etsy. The texture and dimension on the wall plays well with the assemblages on the Tribe tables, no pun intended.

We wanted to create a table for each tribe that would convey their individual vibes. For several months, we gathered eclectic treasures in each Tribe category. Once we had each table assembled, we had them photographed from above.

The final step was to turn each photo into a decal, which we applied to each Tribe’s table top. The tables are the centerpiece of what we now call the Clubhouse.
